Obama wins

I'd love to comment on Obama's winning for US Presidential Election 2008 but tonnes of workloads tonight prohibiting me from doing so. I have to admit that it's unfair for me to make any judgmental comment on either Obama or McCain since I'm not following this most memorable presidential election in the US history as closely as I've been following the "what's going on" of Malaysian politics. Okay, I'm not ashamed to say that I don't follow it at all. So, it isn't such a strange feeling that I didn't get as much excited as my friends did when the electoral results were announced.

To be honest, what have been happening in Malaysian political scenes for the past few months really turn my mood off politics. I'm taking a break now but I'll still go out voting when the time has come. It's really sad though because I can easily get thrilled when it comes to politics and politics used to be a common topic in my family's lively exchange of conversation. So, no politics for me for this time being and it's gonna be boring but somehow it's better to stay that way.

Lessons from the past Malaysian General Election had totally altered my outlook on politics at 180 degrees. From now on, I promise to free myself from blind fanaticism and escape myself from ignorantly following inch-by-inch the people who fiercely preach about the principle of democracy (read Western) but least do they know about what form of democracy that would be feasible for our uniquely Malaysian setting. We're different because we're Malaysians, we're independent, we don't have to follow what others telling us about democracy. We should do it in our own way.

Anyway, the state of euphoria is hanging in the air right now here in America. That is so courageous of Americans that they are moving beyond the color line in politics. You'd just love to see how Obama used his charismatic strong words to inspire people from all walks of life to support his cause of "Change We Can Believe In". Yet, I don't know what to expect out of Obama. I'm actually quite allergic to politicians that are too smart playing with words. Words can sometimes blind you. It's too early to get all optimistic but it's too much as well to become too pessimistic. Clearly, everyone that I know is in full support of Obama. By 12.05 am on the night of 5th Nov, these are all the shout-outs that my friends posted on their YM. Sorry if I published them without permission.
